The exhibition titled ‘Have you. Need you’ is a reflection of El-Ashmawi’s work.
Companionship, which may be based on friendship, love or admiration, is an essential, even divine, feature of human life. Solitude holds no pleasure, giving individuals the belief of finding true bliss in the quest for companionship, friendship, and love. Blood related or not, the closeness developed with a certain person helps us grow, influencing every aspect of our personality. Our sibling, friend or lover becomes our nurturer and motivator, a listening ear that keeps us safe. It’s a human bond that epitomizes emotional attachment, comfort and ease.
This exhibition is part of an annual program in which young local artists in the early stages of their careers are encouraged to exhibit their works. This is closely related to Al Riwaq Art Space’s mission to support and nurture the local/regional art scene.
