ملخص الفيلم

تقع أحداث هذه الملحمة الدرامية خلال حرب 1967، وهي في الوقت ذاته صورة شخصية لعائلة من طبقة متوسطة واستعراض للثقة والآمال التي وضعها العرب في الرئيس الراحل جمال عبدالناصر في تلك الفترة. نجح الفيلم في الربط  بين الخاص والعام، وكشف عن مجتمع قائم على السلطة الذكورية والتضحية الأنثوية لنساء يحلمن بحق تقرير الاختيار. يُعد هذا الفيلم ثالث أفلام المخرج البحريني بسام الذوادي الذي يظهر عبر أعماله مرونة في الأسلوب وفي اختيار المواضيع مستعرضاً حسه الواقعي والرومانسي العميق، ومكتشفاً لمناطق قوية ومندسّة في الذاكرة الجماعية.

من أوائل المخرجين السينمائيين في البحرين، فقد أنتج وأخرج أول ثلاثة أفلام روائية في البحرين هي "الحاجز" (1990)، و "زائر" (2003)، و"حكاية بحرينية" (2006). درس الإخراج في المعهد العالي للسينما في القاهرة، وهو عضو مؤسس في "جمعية السينما لدول الخليج العربية"، وكذلك العديد من النوادي والمهرجانات السينمائية. شارك في لجان تحكيم العديد من المهرجانات الإقليمية والدولية، وعمل مخرجاً سينمائياً لدى وزارة الإعلام البحرينية منذ العام 2007، وهو شريك في شركة البحرين للإنتاج السينمائي ويشغل منصب رئيسها التنفيذي منذ العام 2006.

Set during the Arab-Israeli war of 1967, this epic drama is both the personal story of a middle-class Bahraini family and an account of the hopes and faith the Arab world had in Gamal Abdel Nasser as its leader. Intimately told, it skillfully interweaves the personal and the general freedom of choice, this is the third feature film from Bahrain also directed by Bassam Al-Thawadi, who shows flexibility in both style and subject, always demonstrating deep sense of reality and romanticism. The social concerns here are clear and the storytelling simple, yet both challenging and help the film explore areas of Arab collective memory more powerfully than any other film has done in a long time. 

DIRECTED BY BASSAM AL THAWADI

Bassam Al Thawadi is a pioneering Bahraini film-maker, who produced and directed the first three feature films for the Kingdom of Bahrain - "The Barrier" (1990), "Visitor" (2003) and "A Bahraini Tale" (2006). A graduate of the Higher Institute of Cinema, Cairo and is a founding member of the GCC Cinema Society and several film clubs and festivals. He has served as a jury member at many regional and international film festivals. Al Thawadi has worked as a film director at Bahrain's Ministry of Information since 2007 and is a partner and CEO of Bahrain Film Production Company since 2006.
