He worked for Al Safir Newspaper in Lebanon and in 1995 he joined Al Hayat Newspaper and Al Wasat magazine in London where he still works to date.

In this new collection the artist was inspired by the universe and its perpetual movement. Science has often revealed the exact intuition of man as it was the case for the image of the universe. We are linked to this universe for we are part of it. The astronomer Hubert Reeves once said: “We are the dust of the universe”. Nasser explains about his new collection “Driven by my intuition, I express myself through my art in order to understand my being and comprehend the universe”.

House of Poetry 

Head of the intellectual production, publishing and translation department at the Ministry of Culture in Lebanon, the poet, Naim Talhouk, was the Chief Editor of Fiker magazine for the past 10 years. With editorials in Arab journals, he hosts a programme “Awrak Thakafiya” on the National Lebanese Radio. He has nine poetry collections’, the ninth being “Due to Her Body”. The seventh poetry collection “He sings with revelation” was translated to German. His poems inspired PHD students in the University of Bonn, Germany, where he was invited to lecture.

The Grammy awarded singer Susana Baca has represented Peruvian music to the world, with an artistic approach that 
makes it totally modern. From her beginnings, growing up in a servant’s alley in Lima to her current status as an internationally - known diva of song, it’s been an inspiring and unlikely journey. Baca infuses every song and style with her own understated elegance, adding elements of son, cumbia, plena, son jarocho and other types of music to her own Afro-Peruvian style; and her band breathes with her. Susana Baca is the present Minister of Culture of Peru.

The group presents mesmerising fabric-and-light dance spectacles after the style of Loie Fuller (1862-1928). One of her era’s most influential performing artists, Fuller created an art form by swirling silk costumes into moving sculptural forms and illuminating them brilliantly. The company honours Fuller’s legacy in celebration of her 150th birthday, as internationally acclaimed Fuller re-interpreter and Artistic Director Jody Sperling revivifies Fuller’s spirit with brio.

The famed Lebanese qanun virtuoso Imane Homsy began playing at the age of 7 under the guidance of Professor Muhammad Al Sabsaby. She graduated from the National Higher Conservatory of Lebanon with a diploma in qanun with distinction and from the Lebanese Academy of Arts with a diploma in Architecture. She has studied classical Arabic music and with the influence from western music developing her own technique qanun playing with 10 fingers without abandoning the traditional way of playing with two fingers.

هي عبارة عن مجموعة من الفعاليات الفنية والثقافية
من تقديم اعمال فريدة لفنانين شباب
في منطقة العدلية 338 بحيث يتم تقسيم المنطقة إلى أربع محاور
تقام فيها فعاليات مختلفة في كل نهاية أسبوع ابتداء من 26 مارس 2012
لمدة أربع اسابيع متتالية.


وتبدأ الفعالية في 26 مارس بافتتاح بمعرض
أنا هو الآخر في مبنى بوهيميا المنسي في العدلية
وبتتحول المساحة المفتوحة بالقرب من مطعم مونسون
إلى حديقة ومسرح مفتوح وسينما باستخدام خامات متنوعه
تم اعادة تدوريها من قبل الفنانين المشاركين في الفعالية
بالاضافة إلى كل ذلك ستقام ورش عمل ومعارض فنية اسبوعية
وحتى المطاعم الموجودة في المنطقة ستشارك في الفعالية بعروضها الخاصة وأطباقها
الجديدة التي اعدت خصيصا لهذه الفعالية

a grand community-driven cultural and artistic collaboration of

Al Riwaq Art Space and the Block 338 community . This event will

begin from March 26, 2012 and will run for a month.

 The activities will be spread in four different venues and will cover four different artistic

expressions in 4 back to back weekends March 29-31,April 5-7, april 12-14,

 and finally april 19-21.

This event will begin  on March 26th with a contemporary art exhibition entitled “I am the

Other” taking place in the now abandoned Bohemia Restaurant building in

the 338 district.


The following weeks will include both music and film weekends with the 3

week programme ending with a grand finale.

The overlooked square near Monsoon Restaurant will be transformed into

one of the cornerstones of the event: Upcycled material will be creatively

utilized to make a stage and public park area that change weekly to

accommodate the outdoor music and film events.

Al Riwaq Art Space will be hosting a series of interesting workshops and

weekly exhibitions for Bahraini artists. Al Riwaq will showcase a

documentation of the entire event including artist interviews related to the

“I am the Other” exhibition.

In collaboration with Restaurants from the 338 area this block will be

transformed into a hub for art and music, in which the restaurants will also

host their own exclusive events and special menus for the duration of this

event.

The Cultural and Theatre Chan Shaolin Temple Group was established in 1998. The group performing many shows around the world, succeeded in spreading Shaolin kungfu culture. The teaching principle of the Base is to mix multitude styles of Kung Fu, Wushu and of Chan Buddhism (Zen) and Shaolin Kung Fu, in a harmonious straightforward way. Its members are masters of traditional Chinese medicine, making them the most prominent figures representing the classical Shaolin Temple disciples to be called the “Temple’s Most Precious Treasure”.

His collection of stories and plays include: From One Side of the City, A Garden of the Dead, Agreed, Butterflies and This House is Not Me.

The Kennedy Center today announced Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical will make its international premiere at Arad Fort in Arad, Bahrain as part of Spring of Culture, the nation’s largest cultural event, March 22–23, 2012. Additionally, Kennedy Center Tour General Manager Deirdre Lavrakas will lead three educational theater workshops from March 19 to 21 for teachers and grade school students in Bahrain. The production marks the first-ever international appearance for the Kennedy Center’s Theater for Young Audiences (KCTYA) on Tour series.

Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical made its world premiere in May 2010 and has since entertained national audiences in 80 cities and 36 states as part of the KCTYA on Tour series. With music by Grammy Award® winning composer Michael Silversher, six-time Emmy Award winning author/illustrator Mo Willems adapts his Caldecott Honor winning children’s book Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale into a family musical.  Directed by Rosemary Newcott with choreography by Paige Hernandez, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up.

Internationally renowned band, Osiris, is one of the first true progressive rock bands in the Middle East. Comprised of Bahraini musicians, the band is well known for its complex compositions and symphonic melodies that blend progressive rock music with Bahraini rhythms utilising traditional instruments and percussions. This concert will be based on the band’s last two conceptual albums which focus on Bahrain’s heritages and traditions.
