تأسست «فرقة ماهلر » منذ أكثر من 15 عاماً في العام 1997 م من قِبَل بعض الشباب من
الأعضاء السابقين في أوركسترا جوستاف ماهلر والذين رغبوا في مواصلة تقديم الموسيقى
معاً وعدم هجر الشغف الموسيقي، بدعم من «أبادو كلاوديو ». وقد لاقت الفرقة الجديدة
نجاحاً فنياً باهراً وانجذاباً من جمهور الموسيقى الكلاسيكية
الدولية بشكل كبير، الأمر الذي مكّنها من تقديم العروض في
مختلف دول العالم والسفر الدائم في سبيل التعريف بتلك
الفرقة لأكبر قدر ممكن من عشاق الموسيقى.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن الفرقة قد تعرضت إلى انهيار في
إحدى فترات مسيرتها، إلا أن دون جيوفاني لموتسارت
استطاع أن ينتج معها مقطوعات عالمية بإشراف كلاوديو
أبادوا، مما ساعد الفرقة لاحقًا على النهوض والمشاركة
في المهرجانات المختلفة. إن التركيبة المرنة في إدارة
الفرقة قدمت لها فرصًا متعددة لتصل إلى النجاح، وعززت
من انتشارها في الدول الأخرى، مؤسسة لنفسها بذلك
مكانة معروفة بين رواد الموسيقى.

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1997 on the initiative of Claudio Abbado and
a group of musicians from the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra who wished to continue to
play together even after reaching the youth orchestra›s age limit. The combined principles of
artistic curiosity and the broadest possible spectrum of repertoire, both at the highest possible
musical level, guided the ambitious ensemble in its founding and continue to shape its work
today, enabling them to travel around the world to entertain international audiences.
The Mahler Chamber Orchestra is unique in the flexibility of its organisational structure.
The core of the orchestral group is made up of approximately 50 musicians of 19 different
nationalities who come together for single projects according to the specific requirements
of each individual programme. This has led to the development of a cultivated and sensitive
orchestral sound which has become the ensemble’s trademark. The orchestra had its
international breakthrough just a year after its founding with Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni,
which premiered at the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence in 1998
under the direction of Claudio Abbado and Daniel Harding. The ensuing world tour of this
production not only brought the ensemble international acclaim, but also led to a residency
contract with the Aix-en-Provence festival.
